1) St Martin's School
2013 - Today
St Martin’s School is located in Kibera Slum, in Kenya, and was founded by a group of single mothers that wanted to do something for the children in their community. Nowadays, the school has 250 students, with classes from baby class up to class 7. This was the first school sponsored by EducAfrica, and 6 of our volunteers have been working in this school, since 2013. This days, our three programs are active in this school: sponsorships, that help improve their feeding program and increases teacher’s salaries; infrastructure, with a built school of 250m2, with enough classrooms for the school, boys and girls toilets and a kitchen with water and light installation; and the educational advisement, we are in the diagnosis stage so we can later design the program for each school.
2) Destiny School
Destiny School is located in Mathare Slum, Nairobi, Kenya, and was founded by a group of teachers who decided to dedicate their efforts to improve the education of their community. This year, the school has 280 students, with classes from baby class up to class 8. This is the second school sponsored by EducAfrica and four of our volunteers have worked in this school. Currently we are developing the sponsorship program, due to the impossibility of the students to pay for the school fees, thus compelling the management board to find extra money and cut on expenses to keep those children in class. This school has enormous material and academical needs, thus they are being supported in both areas.
